Democrats,

"Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter".  Those are inspirational words from Dr. Martin Luther King's "I Have A Dream" speech.  As Democrats, we stand up for those who do not have a voice.  Tomorrow, I'll be joining Representative Greg Leding, Vice-Chair Emily Ironisde and other advocates in Little Rock for the a statewide summit on the DREAM (Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors).  I am eager to learn how we can help these extraordinary young people realize their dreams.  I pledge to never become silent about the things that truly matter.  More information at www.arkansasdreamers.org

In other news, join the Washington County Democrats for a very important meeting on Monday, January 23, starting at 6:00pm.  Jean Wallace and Donell Meadows will be joining us from the Democratic Party of Arkansas with information about the 2012 Delegate Selection Plan. Our meeting will be held in the 5th floor conference room of the Washington County Courthouse.

Additionally, it is time to file to be officially recognized as a County Committee member.  Filing for the county committee will begin on  Wednesday, February 22nd starting at Noon at the Courthouse.  To be considered as 2012 DNC Delegate you MUST be a filed member with the Central Committee but the deadline.  We will be recruiting volunteers to assist during the filing time.

Democratically Yours,

Tyler B. Clark
Washington County Democrats, Chair

Plan a State of the Union Watch Party

Via www.barackobama.com
Thinking about hosting a party to watch President Obama's State of the Union address? Here are some hosting tips to get you started.
Pick a location
When choosing a venue for your event, look for a quiet place with enough room for your guests and a reliable internet connection. Your home (or a friend's home) could be a great option, but don't forget about your local restaurants, coffee shops, or community centers—folks have hosted successful parties just about anywhere you can think of.
Make a guest list
Inviting guests is one of your most important roles as a host. Your watch party will be an opportunity to bring together supporters in your neighborhood and help them get to know each other. Start by making a list of people in your life who would like to know more about the President, who have helped out with the campaign in the past, or who are interested in organizing around local issues. Then give them a call, send them an email, or even drop off an invitation in person.
Get connected with more hosting tips
When you sign up to hold an event, you'll have access to all the resources you need—including suggestions for helping your guests get to know each other, party planning ideas, and the chance to interact with campaign staff and other hosts.
